Rockland County Sheriff Operations Building
Rockland County is converting a 25,000 sq. ft highway garage into the base of operations for the Rockland County Seriff’s Office. The office is broken into four divisions: Police, Civil, Corrections, and Communications and it is their mission to serve and protect all the residents of Rockland County.
Collado Engineering was retained, as a subconsultant, to provide consulting engineering services for the HVAC, electrical, fire alarm, plumbing, and fire protection systems serving the converted building. The operations building will contain an emergency vehicle garage, offices, restrooms, locker rooms, a muster room, break rooms, and more.
The building requires a full gut renovation to fulfill the requirements of the new space including upgraded MEP systems throughout. New rooftop units are being provided for the office and toilet/locker rooms, ventilation is being added to the garage and toilet/locker rooms, and new unit heaters in the garage are being provided. The building will be provided with a new electric service was investigated to determine if an upgrade was required to accommodate the new loads. A new emergency generator, lighting, and lighting controls were designed, and the plumbing infrastructure is being upgraded to support the plumbing fixtures. A new fire alarm system and sprinkler system are also being provided throughout the building.
