Arc’teryx is a high-end outdoor apparel and equipment company based out of Canada. The company is in the process of opening a flagship location in Soho as well as their just opened a satellite store in the Woodbury Common Premium Outlets in Central Valley, NY.
The Arc’teryx flagship store in Soho is a showcase of modern design and high-performance outdoor apparel. This prime location required an engineering approach that complemented its sleek, urban aesthetic while ensuring a comfortable shopping environment. Collado Engineering focused on integrating efficient HVAC systems, advanced lighting designs, and robust structural elements. The goal was to create an inviting atmosphere that aligns with Arc’teryx’s brand ethos of innovation and quality.
The satellite location at Woodbury Commons presented a distinct set of challenges. One of the primary issues was designing a fire-rated ceiling beneath an unheated space which required a meticulous approach to ensure both safety and functionality. Given the unheated space above, maintaining thermal comfort within the store was crucial. CE implemented advanced insulation techniques to prevent heat loss and ensure a consistent indoor temperature, enhancing the shopping experience for customers. To further address the temperature regulation challenges, each space is served by a grade level, air-cooled DX, air conditioning unit, with gas heat, that remain as is with only the interior ductwork having been modified to accommodate the new interior layout.
