Energy

Nearly all MEP systems, from lighting and controls to chillers and boilers, rely on energy to function. With buildings responsible for approximately 40% of energy use in the built environment, energy conservation is not just a design consideration, but a core responsibility of engineers. Our engineering approach prioritizes sustainability and performance, resulting in reduced operating costs, lower carbon emissions, and healthier environments both inside and outside the building.

We design with a focus on energy efficiency, integrating the latest leading-edge technologies to meet the evolving standards of high-efficiency energy performance and decarbonization. For new construction, and existing buildings alike, our team applies a forward-thinking mindset to identify opportunities for meaningful energy savings. We leverage energy modeling calculations to evaluate design options, project energy usage, estimate operating costs, and ensure compliance with local energy and emissions codes. For existing buildings, we conduct comprehensive energy audits to fully understand each facility’s energy use profile. This allows us to recommend targeted, cost-effective strategies for improvement based on actual data and specific building conditions. Our team is also well versed in navigating the complexities of energy compliance in New York City, including the processing of filings required under Local Laws 88 “Lighting Upgrades & Sub-metering,” 84/133 “Benchmarking,” 87 “Energy Audits & Retro-Commissioning,” and 97 “Greenhouse Gas Emissions,” as well as other municipalities.

“Collado Engineering’s energy audits were exceptionally thorough and provided invaluable insight into reducing our carbon footprint and lowering long-term energy costs. Their professionalism and expertise have been instrumental as we move forward with our energy reduction program.”
