Upgrading Without Interruption

New York, NY

Temple Shaaray Tefila

Temple Shaaray Tefila, which consists of a Sanctuary Building and Community House, is located at the corner of 250 East 79th Street and 2nd Avenue. The building spaces include a sanctuary with choir loft, large meeting room, offices, a community room, kitchen, library, chapel and classrooms.

Collado was retained to provide electrical engineering services associated with the assessment of the Temple’s existing electrical service, based on a review of Con Edison demand history and loads added  due to a 2012 air conditioning replacement project, as well as anticipated loads associated with a planned future expansion. Collado’s engineers confirmed the need to increase the capacity of the electric service, provided a load letter to Con Edison, developed a conceptual plan for electric service upgrading for budget pricing, and prepared design documents for bid and construction. The building needed to remain operational throughout the upgrade, adding to the complexity of the project. Electric service shutdowns were agreed with the owner and limited to avoid disrupting the facility events.
